Loong’s Chinese Restaurant in West Vancouver has quickly gained a reputation for its authentic Cantonese cuisine, particularly the rich flavors reminiscent of Guangdong's culinary tradition. Customers rave about the dishes that showcase expert preparation and deep authenticity, echoing the heartfelt cooking of cherished family recipes. Glenn W's review captures this essence beautifully, highlighting the standout dishes like the pork belly soup and the sweet and sour pork, each perfectly seasoned and demonstrating a mastery of traditional techniques. The father-son team behind the restaurant focuses solely on delivering a genuine dining experience, without the distractions of trendy decor or flashy service. This singular focus on the food allows diners to immerse themselves in a genuine neighborhood atmosphere, reminiscent of eateries found in Guangdong. Other diners, like Ricardo Wang and Won Chung, echo sentiments of authenticity and deliciousness, with a warm recommendation for those eager to discover real Cantonese flavors. The ambiance may be modest, but the culinary offerings truly shine. While it might be a bit pricier, patrons agree that the quality justifies the cost. For anyone seeking a taste of home-cooked Cantonese meals, Loong’s promises an experience that warms both the heart and palate. Reservations are advisable, as loyal customers quickly fill up this hidden gem.

If you're curious about real Cantonese cooking, skip the General Tso’s chicken and chow mein and try Loong’s. My mother-in-law is one of the best cooks I’ve ever known. Every Sunday, she would spend six to eight hours preparing a feast of our favorite Cantonese dishes—no recipes, just decades of experience and a deep love for feeding others. Loong’s is the closest I’ve ever come to that kind of cooking in a restaurant. The food is expertly prepared, deeply authentic, and absolutely delicious. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, spiced, and cooked with obvious skill. Don’t be intimidated by the menu. We had pork belly soup (best broth, chewy pork), beef brisket noodles, stir fried veggies, sweet and sour pork and milk custard for dessert (try it hot). All were wonderful! Don’t come here expecting trendy decor, cocktails, or flashy service. This is about the food—nothing more, nothing less. It’s a father-and-son team running the place, and while the service is simple and efficient, come for the food. Or you could try takeout. The restaurant itself might not wow you at first glance. But give it a chance, and you’ll feel like you are in a favourite neighbourhood spot in Guangdong—only it happens to be in West Vancouver.

I am a Chinese (shunde) person, and I am happy with the food. I think I said it all

Authentic Guangdong Shunde cuisine, open for about two months. It has no connection with the previous Japanese restaurant. The only staff are a handsome young waiter and his father. It can get quite busy sometimes, so making a reservation is recommended. So delicious!

Good authentic Chinese dishes. You can tell it’s a pretty newly opened restaurant though. Bit expensive. There was a lot of people there. It could potentially be more popular if they put some more work into it.

Finally, a good Chinese restaurant in this area - it is no wonder they are always busy! A family operated small space that serves delicious and authentic Chinese food. Will be coming back regularly.
